Ambassador Jayme White is a Senior International Trade Advisor in the firm’s International Trade Practice. Ambassador White served as Deputy United States Trade Representative (USTR) for over two years following his confirmation by the U.S. Senate in September 2021. Jayme has more than 20 years of experience in advising and shaping legislation on international trade, tax, technology, innovation, and energy issues.

As Deputy USTR, Jayme served as an international trade negotiator, diplomat, and senior statesperson. He was responsible for trade-related labor and environmental issues, as well as for developing and implementing trade policy strategies to promote the competitiveness and innovation of the U.S. economy. Jayme represented the United States and the Biden Administration in matters of trade policy in the Western Hemisphere, Europe (including the United Kingdom and Russia), and the Middle East, frequently leading U.S. delegations in these regions and chairing formal government-to-government negotiations led by trade ministers.

Prior to being confirmed as Deputy USTR, Ambassador White served as the Chief Advisor for International Competitiveness and Innovation for the United States Senate Committee on Finance under the leadership of its Chair, Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR). In this role he developed, authored, and shepherded to passage legislation governing trade negotiations with foreign nations and the application of domestic trade laws. Additionally, before joining the United States Senate, Jayme spent nearly a decade in the United States House of Representatives shaping broad U.S. economic policies, including trade and tax policy.
