The $2.8 billion U.S. Department of Education contract covers the collection of unpaid student loan debts issued by federal loan programs. Only seven out of 23 companies were awarded the contract, causing a number of bid protests. Judge Susan G. Braden granted a 30-day stay for the parties involved to come up with a global solution” to the arguments. Until May 19, all protestors agreed to temporarily stop the disputes.
