I’m Not a Lobbyist, I’m a Business Person” Lobbying Compliance Traps for the Unwary

This session will focus on common scenarios faced by corporate officers and employees interacting intermittently, as part of their job duties, with legislators and government officials at the federal, state and municipal levels.  It will reveal how seemingly routine contacts on a wide variety of subjects can amount to regulated lobbying, triggering registration and reporting requirements, as well as other rules specifically applicable to lobbyists.  It will also cover basic rules relating to meals and entertainment as part of these interactions.
