Kelley Drye & Warren LLP, a powerhouse firm with the heart of a boutique, is seeking a Trademark Docketing Clerk to join their busy IP and Trademark team. Under the direction of our Trademark Paralegal/Practice Group Coordinator, the Trademark Docketing Clerk will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the U.S. and foreign trademark applications and registrations in the docket database for the trademark practice group. This hybrid role will be based in the New York office.
Responsibilities/Essential functions:
- Daily docketing of U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement deadlines with detailed entries.
- Review trademark documents and correspondence for relevant deadlines, status updates and other pertinent information relating to the maintenance of trademarks.
- Respond to inquiries from attorneys, trademark administrators, and professional staff regarding docket entries.
- Conduct online research and information gathering for trademark status updates and particulars.
- Preparation and distribution of system reports and customized queries.
- Review and process mail/email, including office actions, communications with outside counsel, and other IP related communications.
- Assist with special projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years of applicable work experience in a law firm setting. Must have knowledge of U.S. and foreign trademark docketing. Knowledge of The Madrid Protocol/WIPO highly desirable.
- Knowledge of CPI docketing software experience required.
- Strong technical aptitude and understanding, including ability to quickly learn new applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent proofreading skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office products.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, work with deadlines and prioritize workload effectively.
- Experience with USPTO Financial Manager a plus.
The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in New York City if selected for the role. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees, and certifications (e.g., JD/technology) for example. New York City Salary Range: Low: $70,000 High: $90,000.
