The Strategic Pricing Team is in a unique position where we work cross-functionally with each Firm department and practice area, giving us an unparalleled view into Firm operations and financial performance. In addition to having oversight of pricing operations, the team is also responsible for driving the data and analytics strategy across the Firm, establishing both the “look-and-feel” of our reports and front-end user experience design.
This position will have a high degree of exposure with Firm Partners and executive committee members, while collaborating closely with the Director of Strategic Pricing and the team’s other analysts to progress our growing analytics program. Experience with Power BI report building, Paginated Reports, DAX, and SQL are imperative to success. They’ll be vital to delivering unparalleled data transparency, insights, and front-end user experience to partners and clients alike. Further, they’ll need to have a passion and aptitude toward not only making data available but presenting it in such a way where it’s attractive to look at, intuitive to use, and easily understood across all levels of financial fluency.
How You’ll Make a Difference
- Act as one of the primary focal points in the Reporting & Analytics program, working closely with the Director of Strategic Pricing to facilitate report design, creation, maintenance, and end-user discussions.
- Proactively monitor Firm clients and matters for profitability and budget performance, suggesting and executing improvements where necessary.
- Help manage our existing reporting pipeline, and proactively suggest and develop new reports based on end-user needs.
- Apply statistical modeling methods to determine the potential impact of pricing strategies on profitability.
- Forecast revenue and market share based on market trends, production costs, profit margins, and sales volumes.
- Establish and maintain a listing of reporting & data best practices and user manual.
- Deliver one-on-one and larger-scale trainings, on dashboards and analytics.
- Develop financial models, analytics, and pitch language in support of pricing proposals.
- Compile and analyze data and historical statistics relating to revenue, realization, and profitability.
- Contribute to the preparation of various templates and robust financial and pricing models with other analysts to help provide partners with projected outcomes for alternative pricing arrangements.
What We’re Looking For
- 3 - 6 years of experience in financial analysis, consulting, pricing, accounting, or another data-driven discipline. Bonus (not required): 2+ of those years at a Fortune 500 company, or 2+ years at an AmLaw 200 law firm.
- Exceptional communication skills, in writing and verbally, whether in small group discussions, large-scale presentations, or with executives.
- An eye for design as it relates to dashboards, reports, presentations, and training materials – end user experience should be front of mind.
- Strong understanding of database design (SQL tables, relationship designs, etc.)
- Strong proficiency with SQL or other query languages.
- Working proficiency with Python a plus.
- Comfortable working with and analyzing large datasets to derive actionable insights.
- Experience with law firm technology such as Aderant, Intellistat, and CoPilot a plus, with a high proficiency in Excel and Visualization Tools preferred (Power BI)
- Ability to set priorities and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in New York City if selected for the role. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees, and certifications (e.g., JD/technology) for example. New York City Salary Range: Low: $95,000 High: $115,000
