The Strategic Pricing Team is in a unique position where we work cross-functionally with each Firm department and practice area, giving us an unparalleled view into Firm operations and financial performance. In addition to having oversight of pricing operations, the team is also responsible for driving the data and analytics strategy across the Firm, establishing both the look-and-feel” of our reports and front-end user experience design.

This position will have a high degree of exposure with Firm Partners and executive committee members, while collaborating closely with the Director of Strategic Pricing and the team’s other analysts. The Strategic Pricing Analyst is uniquely positioned to utilize and develop two complementary skill sets: Legal Pricing and Reporting & Analytics. This cross-functional role will work with a wide range of Marketing and Finance professionals, and the Firm’s full spectrum of attorneys to develop new pricing arrangements, run matter and client analytics, and develop client pitches that balance competitiveness with financial performance.

The Pricing Analyst will also play a core role in advancing and developing our quickly expanding analytics program, utilizing their experience with Power BI report building, DAX, and SQL to interact with and visualize our extensive dataset. They’ll be vital to delivering unparalleled data transparency, insights, and front-end user experience to partners and clients alike. Further, they’ll need to have a passion and aptitude toward not only making data available but presenting it in such a way where it’s attractive to look at, intuitive to use, and easily understood across all levels of financial fluency.

How You’ll Make a Difference

  • Work closely with the Director of Strategic Pricing and other analysts as a core contact for all client-facing pitches, RFPs, budgets, negotiations, interfacing directly with Firm Partners, Marketing staff, and other key stakeholders to ensure an efficient workflow.
  • Act as one of the primary focal points in the Reporting & Analytics program, working closely with the Director of Strategic Pricing to facilitate report design, creation, maintenance, and end-user discussions.
  • Proactively monitor Firm clients and matters for profitability and budget performance, suggesting and executing improvements where necessary.
  • Help manage our existing reporting pipeline, and proactively suggest new reports based on end-user needs.
  • Apply statistical modeling methods to determine the potential impact of pricing strategies on profitability.
  • Forecast revenue and market share based on market trends, production costs, profit margins, and sales volumes.
  • Establish and maintain a listing of reporting & data best practices and user manual.
  • Deliver both one-on-one training, and larger-scale presentations, on dashboards and analytics.
  • Develop financial models, analytics, and pitch language in support of pricing proposals.
  • Compile and analyze data and historical statistics relating to revenue, realization, and profitability.
  • Contribute to the preparation of various templates and robust financial and pricing models with other analysts to help provide partners with projected outcomes for alternative pricing arrangements.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3 - 6 years of experience in pricing, accounting, financial analysis, or another analytics related discipline. Bonus: 2+ of those years at a Fortune 500 company, and 2+ years at an AmLaw 200 law firm in a pricing role.
  • Exceptional communication skills, in writing and verbally, whether in small group discussions, large-scale presentations, or with executives.
  • An eye for design as it relates to dashboards, reports, presentations, and training materials – end user experience should be front of mind.
  • Experience with legal pricing, law firm economics, and financial modeling is highly desired.
  • Working understanding of database design (SQL tables, relationship designs, etc.)
  • Working proficiency with SQL or other query languages.
  • Comfortable working with and analyzing large datasets to derive actionable insights.
  • Experience with law firm technology such as Aderant, with a high proficiency in Excel, and Visualization Tools (Power BI preferred)
  • Working understanding of Power BI security/Row Level Security (RLS)
  • Ability to set priorities and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in New York City if selected for the role. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data/ranges, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees, and certifications (e.g., JD/technology) for example. New York City Salary Range: Low: $95,000 High: $115,000
