Robert Crotty’s practice is focused on commercial litigation, trials, appeals and arbitrations. With more than four decades of experience, Bob has represented clients in the automobile, banking, contracting, composites, direct marketing, distribution, direct mail, health care, pharmaceutical, real estate, real estate valuation, securities, telecommunications, trusts and estates and other business areas. His experience includes corporate, contract, antitrust, securities, trusts and estates and labor and employment matters, to name only a few.

Bob represents businesses and individuals in all stages of dispute resolution, helping them to make informed decisions at every phase of development. Bob takes the time to understand each client’s immediate and long-term goals because every client and legal dispute has its own unique set of circumstances. Bob develops a plan of defense or prosecution that is tailored specifically to each scenario.

Bob’s skill as a veteran litigator and advocate is broad and deep. He has defended and prosecuted claims valued into the hundreds of millions of dollars. Among many other achievements, Bob obtained an award for a major pharmaceutical company in an international arbitration, obtained an acquittal for a corporate client in a criminal antitrust trial in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, as well as a defense jury verdict of $1 in nominal damages against a client in a sexual harassment case. He also represented a major chemical and polymers company in obtaining an insurance payment of $32 million, the full face value of the six insurance policies involved; a major defense jury verdict in favor of a large New York City hospital in a sophisticated employee benefits case; and negotiated a favorable settlement for a securities fraud action for a Fortune 500 company against a major European bank and a New York investment bank.

Bob consistently delivers effective and efficient litigation services that address his client’s current legal concerns, as well as safeguard their future interests. On many occasions, Bob has achieved early resolution of a claim through discreet and behind-the-scenes negotiation. If a dispute cannot be resolved through persuasive diplomacy, and litigation ensues, Bob has and will take a dispute to state or federal court or arbitration, and through appeal if it is in his client’s best interest to do so.

Bob has analyzed and advised on a diverse selection of complex commercial disputes. As a result, he is known and appreciated for providing consistently superior-quality representation.

As a litigator for over 40 years, I remain focused on working with my clients to balance the complexities of the law with sound business judgment and effective advocacy both in and out of court.”
